Table of Contents

California is known to have some of the most beautiful coastlines in the country. In particular, Orange County has some of the most breathtaking views for meditation. Newport Beach is an excellent choice if you want to find a peaceful place to center yourself.

For decades people have flocked to the beaches for surfing, hiking Orange County’s hill, and enjoying its consistent sun and dry climate. Newport beach specifically has been touted as being exceptionally stunning.

Over the past several decades and especially in the past few years, meditation has also become increasingly popular in Newport Beach.

Meditation is the practice of centering oneself, becoming present and allowing all emotions to exist without resistance.

Meditation can be practiced anywhere, but a serene environment, connected with nature can often allow a person to be in his or her most relaxed state.  Mediation has helped thousands with anxiety, depression, sleep, focus and more

Newport Beach provides an ideal setting for meditation offering many areas connected with nature.

Where to Go for Meditation in Newport Beach

Balboa Island

Balboa Island is a small harborside community in Newport Beach. It is a man-made island and is only accessible by bridge.

It is a great area to walk, jog, or simply enjoy breakfast on the water. Complete with beach access and a park, there are countless spots to meditate in nature.

Meditation doesn’t always have to be a seated activity either. Walking or jogging, for many, produces the same effect as seated or lying down meditation.

If you’re looking for a place to meditate and enjoy shops and food, Balboa island is a great option. Be sure to also check out Balboa Pier on the island, where views of the Pacific are vast.

ESO Live Well

ESO Live Well is a wellness collective also located in Newport Beach.

ESO Live Well was started by Vas Kypreos in 2018. Vas was faced with a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 2008, and from there she began her wellness journey. Her diagnosis propelled her passion for alternative medicine where she found yoga, meditation, acupuncture, and a variety of other healing modalities.

Vas is passionate about helping others heal. She coaches with love, and enthusiasm. ESO Live Well is a great place for someone new to meditation to begin. Here, they will teach you different meditation techniques with the support of a community and teachers.

Sometimes when beginning a new venture having the support of a coach and community can make all the difference.

West Jetty View Park

West Jetty View Park is centered at the end of the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach. It is complete with a small park, and a big beach and is a great place to meditate.

West Jetty Park is most notably known for its huge waves. With the right conditions, the waves at this beach can be up to 30 feet high. Many local surfers hang out here and ride the waves.

Whether its bodysurfers, surfers, kneeboarders, or bodyboarders, many have been using this area to surf what they refer to as “the wedge,” for years.  It is said that the ocean has a very cleansing energy, so meditation near water is always encouraged!  You will not be disappointed with these waves and deep beaches.

Bommer Canyon

Boomer Canyon is right on the border of Newport Beach and Irvine. It draws walkers, hikers and anyone enthusiastic about outdoor activities. At Bommer Canyon you’ll experience beautiful views, complete with oak and sycamore groves.

Bommer Canyon is open for self-guided hikes from dawn to dusk.

Additionally, there are other areas in Bommer Canyon that are only accessible through guided programs and require pre-registration. Whether your preference is to meditate at the top of a hill with a beautiful view, or next to a creek, or under a giant sycamore tree, places to meditate at Bommer Canyon are plentiful.
